Raw earth -clay

To lead a healthy life in a home without pollutants has become one of our main current concerns.
This environmental consciousness leads us to make well considered choices which render our homes healthy for the wellbeing of our families.
And so, to ensure that our homes are attractive and healthy, natural building materials are fully suited.

For your renovation and interior decoration projects I propose a large range of natural materials as well as finishing coats adapted to your preferences of living arrangement, tastes and lay-out.

I personally formulate and prepare my finishing coats and materials used but I can also use pre-mixed products.

By means of a personalized study of your projects an appropriate solution can be found together.

Clay is used all over the world for daily applications in the home as well as health purposes. Its presence is all around us; in a multitude of colours or in its natural state, smooth or coarse, flat or rounded, contemporary or pastoral.

In only a few years, raw earth or clay plastering and rendering have taken their place of preference in the range of natural building materials.

The environmental impact of clay is very limited. This, together with it’s capacity to regulate temperature and indoor humidity as well it’s ability to reduce noise and absorb smells, make it a very versatile material. It also improves thermal and therefore comfort conditions of the building.

Clay can be applied to many surfaces and be used in very divers conditions and more particularly in the renovation of old buildings thanks to its capacity to breath and its durability.

My personal course of life.

After having worked in de social sector for a number of years,
I wanted to discover the building crafts with a respect for our past and heritage.

I would also like to learn how to preserve and respect the achievements of our ancestors inn accordance with my environmental and human values.

Initially I was autodidact in my discovery of the various techniques.
I then continued my training with various courses in the field: tiling, colouring materials followed by various plastering techniques but also Tadelakt.

My divers professional experiences and contacts also allowed me to discover a wide field of crafts: cellulose insulation, lime-hennep insulation etc…

The possible uses of clay-earth and lime are very divers and large and I chose to continually question my methods to enable me to maintain the originality and efficiency in my work.

Also, having worked in partnership with other craftsmen, I am able, when necessary, to work on a large field of sites.

In addition, my membership of « Collectif Atouterre», allows a vast exchange of knowledge which in turn allows for a continued valuation of the various techniques.

Starting from the modeling of clay and then thanks to my training and contacts in the world of environmentally friendly construction my experience with clay and lime goes back 15 years.
